INSTRUCTIONS USING THE BOBBI SHIELD

  • Place your baby on a clean diaper.
  • Apply a layer of petroleum jelly or baby cream between the shield and your baby’s skin to prevent chafing.
  • Remove the release liner paper from the shield to expose the adhesive. Avoid contact with the adhesive.
  • Using the inspection port, place the shield over his genital area ensuring the surgical area is free from contact with the shield.
  • With the padded base resting on his abdomen, ensure the shield extends between his legs covering his scrotum.
  • Fold the diaper over the shield, making contact with the pressure sensitive adhesive.
  • Fasten the diaper in the normal manner.

REMOVING THE BOBBI SHIELD

  • Release the diaper tabs.
  • Lift off the front portion of the diaper in the normal manner.
  • Discard the soiled diaper and shield in the normal manner.

  • WARNING: The stent/catheter should NOT exceed 10 mm to avoid bending or sticking to the exposed adhesive on the shield or hooking on the diaper lining.
  • The stent/catheter and penis should be perpendicular to the body.
  • Keep the surgical area free from contact with the shield.
  • With the padded base resting on his abdomen, ensure the shield extends between his legs covering his scrotum.
  • Fold the diaper over the shield, making contact with the pressure sensitive adhesive.
  • Fasten the diaper in the normal manner.

  • WARNING: Ensure that the stent /catheter comes away free from the diaper to avoid dislodging or pulling the stent/catheter out of his penis.

  • WARNING: Do not remove the release liner paper covering the adhesive on the shield. This is to avoid the catheter tube adhering to the shield or being trapped between the shield and the diaper. A trapped or adhered to catheter may cause injury upon subsequent diaper/shield removal.
  • Thread the catheter tube through the inspection port.
  • Place the shield over the genital area ensuring the catheter protrudes through the inspection port to drain into the diaper or urine bag.
  • The catheter and penis should be perpendicular to the body.
  • Keep the surgical area free from contact with the shield.
  • With the padded base resting on his abdomen, ensure the shield extends between his legs covering his scrotum.
  • Fold the diaper over the shield, making contact with the pressure sensitive adhesive.
  • Fasten the diaper in the normal manner.
